Singer, Songwriter, and Guitarist in Wiltshire, Swindon, UK
Justin Hayward is a musician with more than 60 years of group and solo experience. Starting in the late '50s, he played all around Swindon with groups like The Rebels Rock Group, The Woodpeckers, and The Whispers.
Justin's big break was in '65, when he took on a gig as guitar player for The Wilde Three, playing alongside Marty and Joyce Wilde. Marty pushed Justin to write his own material, which made its way to Mike Pinder of The Moody Blues - starting a 36-year career with the group.
When he wasn't playing with the Moody Blues, Justin was either working on his solo music or joining with other groups and performers such as The Blue Jays, the Mandalaband, Marti Webb, The London Philharmonic Orchestra, and more.
Justin Hayward has received four ASCAP awards, the BMI Million Plays award for 'Story in Your Eyes,' an Ivor Novello Statue, and more. In 2000 Justin received the Golden Note Award for lifetime achievement. The only other British recipients are Phil Collins and Sir Elton John.
His dream as a younger musician was to write music for a Kubrick film. Though this never happened, Justin has written songs for the films She (1983) Howling IV (1988). Additionally, he has written or performed music for the soundtracks of television series such as Star Cops and the animated series The Shoe People.
His hit piece "Nights in White Satin" is regularly cited as an all-time favorite all around the world, and has been regularly used in film and television around the world.
When not living a musician's life, Justin Hayward enjoys exercising, horse-riding, and appreciating music from his fellow artists.
