I have been told my entire life that I am an old-soul and a deep thinker. I have a strong thirst for adventure and for new experiences and ideas. I am a past professional white-water and mountain guide, athlete, and and AP student. I am a current teacher, business owner, cook, chess player, and vegetable gardener, eager for my next adventure in business school.

After graduating from Boise State University, I landed my dream job with a renowned white-water rafting company. I was set to move into the mountains to begin work in marketing and operations, as well as guiding clients down the beautiful Salmon River.

My plan was to gain experience in outdoor adventure marketing and then return to school to pursue my MBA. All of my plans came to an abrupt halt just a few miles from reaching my job destination. I lost control of my car and went hurdling over a cliff. My car flipped many times and landed more than 100 yards from the road. I desperately struggled to stay conscious through the night and exit the wreck. If I had closed my eyes and given up, I would not be here today.

I broke four vertebras, my hand, sternum, elbow, and shoulder, along with sustaining a severe concussion and frost bite on my fingertips. My accident put me in the hospital for 16 nights, and needless to say, I would not be marketing The River Company to Sun Valley thrill-seekers that summer.

After I was released from the hospital, I returned to my hometown to recover with my loving family. It was a huge adjustment to say the least. I returned to the workforce as a private tutor, which had been a profession of mine while I was in high school and college.

After gaining experience and success from tutoring part-time, I started my own tutoring business called Justin SoCal Tutoring. I specialize in teaching test preparation for the SAT and ACT, as well as a wide variety of other academic subjects.

Becoming a sole proprietor has solidified my goal of pursuing business and entrepreneurship in my career. I found that I love the challenge of operating my own business and I find great satisfaction from being a "guide" to students in this new capacity.

I am well prepared to tackle the challenges of business school because I have proven that I can overcome tremendous adversity. Although I had a slight detour, I am back on the path that I always intended.
