Justin M. Sipes
Jacksonville, FL
I am a student affairs practitioner with professional experience in fraternity & sorority life, student organization services, leadership education, and residential life. In my short career, I have advised numerous student organizations, supervised paraprofessionals, planned and implemented retreats, and served on campus-wide committees.
I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2010 with my M.A. in College Student Personnel. Beyond my work-related experiences, I am actively involved with professional development organizations (ACPA, AFA, AFLV), where I have presented educational sessions and held various leadership and volunteer roles within these groups. I believe that the purpose of higher education is to create intellectual curiousity to spur the development of ideas that will benefit others.
My strengths are Learner, Input, Strategic, Achiever, and Analytical. I plan on returning to school to pursue a PhD in higher education and have research interests in: (a) the fraternal experience; (b) gender-identity/gender-expression; and, (c) technology/social media. One of my career goals is to be a senior student affairs officer.
Hailing from Baltimore, I am a huge fan of the Ravens and Orioles. I use Old Bay on just about everything and drink multiple cups of coffee a day. I enjoy reading books and listening to podcasts on various topics and then adapting these messages and lessons to higher education. Most recently, I have become an avid runner. I also write somewhat regularly in my personal blog, and am a self-professed Googlite. I do my best to live a sustainable lifestyle. I currently live in Jacksonville, FL and work at University of North Florida as the Associate Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life
