Many have asked me why i do the things I do. I look at it as leading two separate lives, which meet in the middle in one happy equilibrium.
By day, I put my mind to work designing and implementing creative audio visual solutions within the confines of a set room layout. The challenges and obstacles are many, but being able to look out and see the end product of your hard work at the end of the day is a joy that compares to no other.
By night, clad in waders or a wetsuit, swimming out to and standing on a solitary rock some 100 yards off the Atlantic Coast, everything takes a back seat. During these dark hours, I am on the hunt, not just for a fish, but for personal gratification. Catching a fish is secondary in my mind to being at peace with who I am, having the opportunity to smell the salt air, and to see the sun rise every morning. Some things just can't be put into words.
"They say you forget your troubles on the trout stream, but that's not quite it. What happens is that you begin to see where your troubles fit into the grand scheme of things, and suddenly they're just not such a big deal anymore." - John Gierach
