James Vander Espino

Student, Musician, and Teacher in Philippines

Howdy! I'm James, currently a third-year college student at the UST Conservatory of Music, taking up Music Education, Violin Emphasis! I’ve been playing the violin since 2013 and I'm currently learning under my professor, Ma'am Gina Medina-Perez, one of the leading violin educators in the country. I’m also currently a member and scholar of the UST Symphony Orchestra, the largest student symphony orchestra in the Philippines. I also perform part-time in worship services and other events.

While I’m still a student, I'm very passionate, not just in playing music, but also about helping others learn it and become better people! I love teaching, and it is one of my main goals to provide the student with the best music education I have to offer, while enjoying it! The student’s enjoyment and development is my priority, so I’m patient as a teacher and I can accommodate all kinds of students. I’m also a firm believer that anyone can learn an instrument. It is my purpose then, to bring out the best in each and every one of my students through encouragement and inspiration! I will not give up on a student, until he/she has fully understood the concept and applies it correctly!

Other than teaching the violin, I also guide students in music theory! I believe that having a good knowledge of the fundamentals of music, can greatly help the student learn about music, not necessarily just the violin. I do these through the Kodaly and Suzuki methods. Anyone can play music, or teach it. But it takes commitment and perseverance to achieve it. And that’s my purpose!
