Artist Statement:

For me the process for making art is all about mark making. Without actually representing the subject in a realistic way my intention is to communicate and express through colour, texture and line to convey the essence of the image that leaves something for the imagination and encourage the viewer in their own process of thinking and seeing. My technique can vary depending on the subject matter however; generally I like to use loose and gestural marks using palette knife and brushes to produce a bold and expressive surface.

My process of creating art works reflect the energy in the landscape. My desire to investigate the surface has fuelled my obsession in the organic world and how to express my own emotional response to nature.

The challenge for me as a painter is to create a work that has the power to hold the viewer's attention to reveal itself.
