As the mother of two young children, I am always looking for new and innovative ways to boost income while making more time for my family. Recently, this has included working on transcription from home.
There are many transcription companies offering services online, and they can be quite costly. If you've ever tried your hand at transcription (pun intended), I am sure you will see why.
Unfortunately, those costs are not passed on to those actually doing the work.
I am seeking to offer reasonably priced transcription services for podcasters. Why should you transcribe your podcasts?
- Search engine optimization. Search engines do not currently utilize audio-recognition technology. In order to optimize your visibility on the Internet, your Web site should include transcripts of your podcasts.
- Accessibility. Transcribing your podcasts makes your message more accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing.
- Searchable content. When your transcribed podcasts are available on your Web site, it enables listeners to search for keywords and more easily find archived podcasts.
- Additional opportunities. Your transcribed podcasts can be compiled for e-books or be used to provide premium Web site content for subscribers.
- Archival. Having transcriptions of your podcasts will allow you to create your own searchable archives to more easily find recordings on previous topics.
I'd like to offer my services to transcribe and promote podcasters. I intend to build this blog with a solid base of podcasters and podcast fans. For any client who desires, I will post either a full transcription or a selection on my blog, along with information on where to find the podcast online.
