Jamie Zieden-Weber

Amherst, Massachusetts

My name is Jamie and I am from New Jersey. I am a student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Isenberg School of Management.

I came to college unsure of what I wanted to major in and what I wanted to be doing after college. I attempted many different majors and struggled to find enjoyment in any of the classes i was taking.

I sat down one day and tried to think of things that made me happy and then it hit me. All of my life I had been a planner, always wanting to make sure every event I helped with or every party or trip I put together was perfect, down to the last detail.

My passion is Event Planning. My passion for event planning persuaded me to major in Hospitality and Tourism Management and I have started to take classes that I actually enjoy, and that pertain to something I would like to pursue in the future. I am an event planning intern at Lit Amherst and The Vice President Of Social Responsibility for my sorority, which makes me responsible for planning all of our events. Although it is stressful at times, planning is one of the things that makes me enjoy school the most.

The best part of planning an event is seeing the look on people's faces when they first walk into an event that I helped put together. I would like to pursue a career in Event and Convention Management/Planning after college. Event Planning is my passion and I'm hopeful that I can make a career out of something I love so much.
