Karen Song

Student and Musician in Troy, Michigan

Hire me

Hello, I’m Karen. I’m a student living in Troy, Michigan and a senior attending Troy High School. I am a fan of music, volunteering, fitness, and writing. A few of the things I do to incorporate these activities in my life, I take part in the Troy High Varsity tennis team, Healing Sound of Music, and Beaumont Hospital's Bedside Music. On my tennis team, I enjoy being captain and cheering for my teammates on the courts. As the co-founder of Healing Sound of Music, I have fun performing and interacting with the elderly from the American Senior Home. In Beaumont's Hospital's Bedside Music, I learn a lot about the sensitivities of illness as I play my violin for each individual cancer patient.

In college, I would like to pursue my interest in English. I find it intriguing how English literature is like an encompassment of an infinite system of communication. What I take from texts can be applied to different aspects of my life- especially in the activities that I previously mentioned. For example, because of David Foster Wallace’s “This is Water,” I learn to listen and empathize with my younger teammates even if they sprinkle trivial complaints here and there. I am excited to learn the fresh perspectives and even the idiosyncratic thoughts of my classmates. I hope to find an English related career in my future.
