Having served as a Commissioner of Scouting in Nevada, Korte Wamsley, Jr. has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America since 1969. Mr. Wamsley has sponsored community fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association of Utah. From 2002 until 2004, he sat as a Board Member of the Alzheimer’s Association and was in charge of fundraising. This was while Korte held down a full-time job as the Regional Director of Long Term Care Insurance for General Electric. Korte Wamsley, Jr. has served on numerous committees in his local communities for fund raising for the homeless shelters, SPCA, and the Primary Children’s Hospital of Utah.
Since he was young, Korte Wamsley, Jr. has always known the value of hard work and earning one’s own money. In fact, when he was but a young man, his mother and father told him that if he earned $100 for plane fare, they would take him to Hawaii during one of his dad’s company trips. Thus, while working as a paper boy for the Appeal Democrat in Marysville, CA, Korte Wamsley, Jr. started a second job selling donuts door to door on the weekends after he had completed his paper route.
The young Korte Wamsley started mornings at 5 AM folding papers and then out again at 1:30 PM to the local neighborhood on his trusty bike. Thanks to his trustworthiness in the performance of his paper boy duties, Korte was given an award as Paper Boy of the Month not just once but three times. His trophies were mounted proudly in the family front room.
Korte Wamsley will always remember how he was able to be with his maternal Uncle, Bill Wright, and his maternal grandfather, Bert Wright when the entire family won a trip to Hawaii from Prudential Insurance. Apparently, the young Korte Wamsley took after his own father when it comes to working hard and earning awards for it.
