I hold a PhD in Phonology, and have done MA (TESOL) from the University of London. I teach Linguistics, ELT and English literature in the PG Department of English, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and is currently the Head. I am also a teacher educator for 23 years, working for the UGC, Government of India; Government of Odisha; NCERT; DAV Foundation; KV Sangathan; Oxford University Press and the British Council. I am an examiner for IELTS and BEC for the Cambridge University’s ESOL examinations, UK.
My current research interests are young learners and language learning, Focus-on-form grammar teaching, discourse analysis, use of multimodal texts, and culture studies. I have published 17 books that include textbooks and teacher education manuals, 10 research articles in international journals and 22 articles in national journals. My main publishers are Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and Orient Blackswan. I am also an article editor for Sage Publication Inc, USA. I have conducted eight workshops in international conferences, and have won the Ray Tongue award for the workshop at the IATEFL International Conference, 2009 at Cardiff, UK. I have taught at universities in Lisbon and Singapore.
