I'm a child of the 50's and 60's. It was a time when "the left" was middle of the road. I'm a Vet of the Viet Nam Era and a civil disobedient draft dodger who consented to induction after a personal invitation from the FBI. I am a retired master auto technician having worn out and damaged myself in that field. I think being liberal and progressive is the normal way to be; those who don't are poor excuses for Human Beings.
