Amelia and Alnasir Khan, the founders of Kaarigar, were raised in the Philippines and India, countries renowned for their rich traditions in handcrafted goods—from Ayurvedic water vessels to intricate works in wood, fabric, metal, and stone. Sadly, many artisans in these regions struggle to make a living despite their exceptional skills.

The inspiration for Kaarigar emerged during a visit to India, where Alnasir observed a disheartening negotiation between local artisans and retailers. Witnessing these skilled craftsmen being pressured to accept unfairly low prices left a lasting impression on him. Determined to make a difference, Alnasir committed to supporting these artisans and their families.
