Miriam

Miriam, a Christian, was born from Kigorobya in Hoima district where her parents were doing pastoral work at the time. She was raised in a humble family which lived in many villages because of the parents' nature of work.

Miriam attended six primary schools and finally did sit her Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) from Duhaga Boys' Primary school where she excelled with aggregate 8 and joined Duhaga Secondary School on merit for Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and after joined Ndejje S S S on merit for her Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). She performed well and joined Mbarara University of Science & Technology (MUST) for a BSc (Physics/Maths) with Education, on government sponsorship. On graduating, Miriam joined Ndejje SSS as a teacher. While in Ndejje SSS, she served as the Secretary- Games & Sports and Physics Departments. She also served as a Class teacher for the A'level Physics & Maths class. Miriam also trained as a local tutor to train young leaders by British Council. She later took some of the young leaders to the UK and back for a partnership programme in Surrey at the Priory C of E School. Ambitious to grow both academically and professionally, Miriam left Ndejje SSS for P R China to persue Masters degree of International Business Administration at Nanchang University. While in Nanchang Miriam won the Jiangxi International Students' Scholarship Award and she also joined the International Exchange College's basket and volleyball teams and achieved great success and won trophies for the college. She did volunteer work with NanchangCares4Kids.

On coming back to Uganda, Miriam has worked with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), a US based research company in Uganda. She after joined EDUCATE! an International NGO here in Uganda. At EDUCATE!, Miriam has risen up the ranks. She started as a Program Officer to develop young leaders and entrepreneurs in secondary schools in Jinja & Mbale. After a year she was promoted to Senior Programme Officer-Eastern Region and right now she is working as Design and Training Coordinator at EDUCATE!. It's such an interesting experience.

About my country, Uganda; Located here in East Africa, Uganda is endowed with lots of natural resources, talk of the ever green vegetation, rivers and lakes, snowy mountains, 85m-115m high water falls, national parks with a variety of animal species, minerals, fresh food, to mention but a few.
