Caroline Kadisa
Teacher, Volunteer, and Student in Johannesburg
One of my greatest beliefs is that teachers are born and not made thus I was born to be a teacher. My name is Caroline Sokana, I am a B.Ed. 4th year student at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in Sepedi and School Library Info Centre. One may ask why language? I believe that it is important for every learner to be fluent in their home language before they can be fluent in any foreign language. Home language subjects are very underrated in schools, and I would like to help groom learners to change that mindset.
As we live in a world undertaken by the fourth industrial revolution, my goal it to ensure that schools incorporate technology in language subjects not just only in science subjects. My passion for teaching drives me to be a lifelong learner for the betterment of myself and learners I will be teaching, I believe that by continuously learning new information and skills, I will be able to pass that knowledge to my learners and inspire them to enjoy learning in this forever evolving world.
Besides teaching, I am a volunteer at UJ, I am part of a literacy and numeracy program called the LINK. My love for community upliftment has inspired me to be part of the volunteering program at Khulisa Solutions, the program specifically deals with crime prevention programs.
I strong believe that “Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others” and community engagement is one of my happy places
