Dr. Kagonya Awori is an Applied Scientist at Microsoft, leading research on the Future of Work for Africa.
Kagonya has over 10 years' experience leading the research and design of technology solutions for Africa. She has worked across the globe in countries including Kenya, United Kingdom, and Australia, with companies such as Safaricom, Microsoft Research Cambridge, National Australia Bank and iHub.
Kagonya holds a dual Masters in HCI from Carnegie Mellon University (USA), a Bachelors in Business Information Technology from Strathmore University (Kenya), and a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Melbourne (Australia).
Kagonya is passionate about creating knowledge on/for people and businesses in Africa, and building intelligent solutions for Africa that can be scaled globally.
Outside work, Kagonya greatly enjoys travelling, open water swimming, archery, and mentoring the youth - especially women. She also curates and hosts a YouTube show about Technology Design in Africa called ‘Designer’s Craft KE'.
