Kai Barker
Volunteer, Teacher, and Photographer in British Columbia, Canada
Kai Barker holds a B.A. in Theatre with a Minor in Fine Arts at Bishop’s University and is currently completing her Secondary Teacher training and the University of Victoria. Kai has experience as a Theatre Professional in Victoria, Toronto and New York City. Throughout her years working as a Director, Stage Manager, Dramaturg and Producer Kai was most drawn to projects and productions where she contributed as a mentor, mediator and collaborator. As an advocate for art education, Kai is passionate about the relationship between artistic expression and self-identity and continues to explore the many applications of this dynamic both inside and outside of the classroom. With her experience as a volunteer working with special needs and alternative learning organizations Kai looks forward to adding special education training to her credentials as teacher. As an educator, Kai strives to nourish the value of arts as a means for self-discovery as well as opportunity to develop the skills to holistically define oneself in the world.
