Kaila Prins

San Jose, CA

My name is Kaila Prins, but you can call me Johanna Factotum. I’m a marketing copywriter by day, and guest blogger by night.

I am a preeminent smither of words, classically trained in Shakespearean lit (and taking from the experience mostly the license to coin phrases like the master himself).

My career is as multi-faceted as my interests; as a result, I’ve had experience in a number of different jobs and industries. My skills run the gamut from teaching eight-year-olds Stanislavski to explaining server solutions to confused administrative assistants whose only instruction was to “buy the best one”; from copyediting the writing of jazz enthusiasts (as rambling and unpredictable as the music they were reviewing) to crawling around the back alleys of New York City in order to verify the veracity of scavenger hunt clues.

From small business social media campaigns to enterprise white papers, from data sheets to SEO to thought leadership, I can change tone and voice at the drop of a hat--but please do remember to pick your hat up before you leave my site. I can clean up dangling modifiers, but I’m not responsible for your lost clothing!

My formal degree was in English, but my studies have given me experience in creative writing, dramaturgy, and psychology. My personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine has led to my private study of fitness, nutrition, and health–and, incidentally, psychology again.

I am a writer, editor, teacher, and trainer. I am a public speaker and a social media devotee (with a Klout score above 60).

And if that weren’t enough, I now podcast and blog about eating disorders, health, nutrition, and wellness. You can read me at inmyskinnygenes.com or hear me at findingourhunger.com. You can also find me on Twitter @MissSkinnyGenes, where I count characters instead of calories. I look forward to having you join me on my journey.
