Hello, I'm Kailla Sam, and I'm a senior at Silver Creek High School. I am involved in a leadership program at my school called the Silver Creek Leadership Academy (SCLA). Within this program, I am pursuing a capstone project which I have called Creek United. This project works to benefit two children in impoverished nations from the non-profit organization, World Vision. I will be gaining funds from my high school on select Wednesdays for what I've called "One Buck Wednesdays", funds from churches, businesses, and multiple other schools around the St. Vrain Valley School District. I will also be working to highlight the dangers of poverty in our world and compare the lifestyles of a third world nation to a first world nation to young children in elementary schools around Longmont. As a second generation child from an immigrant family who has experienced poverty firsthand in a third-world nation, I want nothing more than to do the same for other children around the world, the way another organization has done for my family. I hope to reach my goal of raising $11,500 this next year for these two students and eliminating the harmful effects of poverty. Join me in my cause to minimize poverty by donating at my website linked above!
