Kaitlyn McGrath

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kaitlyn McGrath's passion for news broadcasting started when she started reporting the morning announcements in middle school.
Moving south to attend the University of Florida, she is currently earning a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications News with a minor in Dance. She has also earned her certificate in Climatology and Meteorology from the Geography Department at UF.
Kaitlyn is currently a reporter and weather forecaster for WUFT News. In addition to her on-camera experience, she has also produced feature radio stories that have aired on Florida's 89.1 WUFT-FM and NPR. She is gaining valuable experience that she is eager to apply to her post-graduate career.
Kaitlyn recently worked with KDKA-TV, CBS Pittsburgh as a news intern in addition to working on Pittsburgh Today Live, a morning talk show featuring news, entertainment, health, and cooking trends. Kaitlyn had the opportunity to pitch, report, and produce her own stories that were aired on the evening news.
In addition to her time spent at the UF College of Journalism and Communications, Kaitlyn has taken on an active leadership role around campus. She is currently a captain for the Dazzlers, the University of Florida official dance team, where she performs at numerous Gator sporting events as well as volunteers her time around Gainesville working with a number of organizations and charities. She is also a sister of Kappa Delta and a member of the Order of Omega Greek Honors Society, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Golen Key Honors Society.
