I am a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am pursuing a degree in public relations with a minor in English, and I am very interested in writing, editing, and reading. I enjoy the creative problem solving and relationship building that go along with PR work. My goal is to find a career path that will allow me to exercise creativity, advocate for a cause I care about, and help others — be they human, animal, or otherwise.

During my time at UNC-Chapel Hill, I have jumped on opportunities to channel my wide variety of personal interests and push myself to try new things. Over the course of almost four years, I’ve helped bathe dogs at a local animal shelter, taught an aerobics class, and performed onstage with a bellydance team. My primary passions are writing, visual arts, and the environment. I have been fortunate to find ways to engage with those passions as a college student. I have worked with UNC’s oldest student literary magazine, Cellar Door, for three years. I am currently its Arts Editor, and love getting the opportunity to see and publish work from the talented students at this university. I wrote for Chapel Hill newspaper The Daily Tar Heel‘s Arts and University desks my junior year, gaining invaluable experience with news writing, conducting interviews, and meeting hard deadlines. The past two summers, I have interned with Creative Services, where I have gotten to work on large projects as well as my own small writing and editing assignments. I recently began volunteering with Independent Animal Rescue in Durham, North Carolina, and thus far it is an incredibly rewarding experience. Each of these experiences has made me a better writer, communicator, and human being. I hope to continue improving in those areas through whatever career path I choose.
