Kaitlynn Bivona

My name is Kaitlynn Bivona, and welcome to my page. I am 20 years-old and attending Purdue University, majoring in Sociology. I am currently involved in the LGBTQ Student Alliance wherein our mission is to provide LGBTQ-identified (and ally) students at Purdue with a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere that focuses on the very diverse needs of its members as well as the community as a whole. While the organization does operate with the intent to combat barriers of sexual identity, we also advocate against the barriers that come with multiple other identities, including race, gender, and culture. I also practice many art forms, including the visual arts. In July, 2013, I enlisted in the United States AFNG and am currently in the process of being honorably, medically discharged. While enlisted, I job shadowed airmen in the Communications unit and learned valuable skills that I will carry over into future careers, such as the ability to communicate and work with many other personalities in order to accomplish the goals of a unit.

I am a natural go-getter; someone who will do whatever it takes in order to solve problems that I am faced with. After taking the StrengthsQuest evaluation, three of the top five projected strengths that I possess are Strategic, Achiever, and Responsibility. Strategic is a strength reflected in individuals who are able to recognize many perspectives and outlooks on a subject or task, and thus are able to make concise decisions when deciding upon a course of action. Achiever is a strength attributed to those who strive for success and work diligently to accomplish it. Finally, there is Responsibility, which suggests that I am dependable as well as integrous.

I have always been passionate about people, whether it be advocating human rights, promoting self-expression and communication, or providing a service for the community. As suggested in the results of my Strong Interest Inventory assessment, I have the ability to motivate and direct others, possessing natural people skills. I am compassionate and understanding, just as I also value practicality. Accuracy, stability, as well as efficiency are all important aspects to meeting the demands of any occupation, and these aspects are just as important to me as utilizing common sense and applying one's imagination.
