Kalani Thomas
Law & Arts Student, Optical Dispenser, and Full time daughter in Brighton East, Australia
Hello, I’m Kalani. I’m a final year Arts & Law Student living in Brighton East, Australia. I am a part time coffee enthusiast and full time optical dispenser outside of university commitments.
This semester I've been placed in a particularly unfamiliar and challenging situation of online blogging and exploring my multiple online persona(s) through ALC 203, or for those who aren't familiar a media studies unit about exploring digital media through the context of online participation. This unit has me a little perplexed as I am used to engaging in education in a conventional textbook-lecturer-student format throughout my law degree and the freedom to explore my own self and online identity is a novel experience outside of my comfort zone. This is my first foray into online blogging and exploring my own identity which has me a little nervous yet equally curious.
I am and have always been a firm believer that we as students should be taught not 'what' to think but rather 'how' to think and pushing the boundaries of formal conventional education is a refreshing and apt change in a world where our online presence continues to blur boundaries and transcend virtual borders with the impacts often trailing into our daily existence and activities.

I thank you all for taking a valuable minute or two out of your own lives to engage with me as i make my first venture into online blogging and emergemyself in theunfamiliarterrain that is ALC 203.
