I was born in Liberal, Kansas and lives in Oklahoma till I was three years old. However my dad's job relocated us to Lubbock, Texas and I have been here ever since. I have always liked nature and really appreciate the environment. I grew up in Texas so most of my back ground with nature is flat land and clear sky's. I have however been up in the mountains a couple of times and personally I enjoy that much more than the Texas landscape, however this could be lack of appreciation on my part because I grew up in the area. The negative things about this part of the country are the lack of rain and the dust storms that come around often. The lack of rain and high winds are what cause these huge dust storms (huboobs). Lubbock with the amount of rain it gets is technically a dessert although some people may never think that if they were just passing through Lubbock. The main economic crop in this region is cotton so the farming community is very big although it is decreasing as the year pass. One of the only main stars to ever come out of Lubbock was Buddy Holly which went to a local high school then continued his education at Texas Tech. The area is also mainly republicans keeping pace with the rest of the Texas cities. This obviously has had an effect on how we vote on small town issues and other policies. Also the biggest sport in the area is football. I think this is an important part of my region because it is a big economic booster because of ticket sales and that sort of things. . All of these things are a small part of what makes up the town that I grew up in and am still living in today.
