KALEL VERBO LIPIO
Student, Teacher, and Musician in Manila, Philippines
Music is undeniably the one thing we cannot live without. Everywhere we go there is music and growing up, I have always been fascinated on how it influences people. I started to play the violin at around 12 years of age when my father gave me a DVD record of a violinist. I begged for lessons after falling in love with the instrument and I have been playing the violin ever since. I have been a part of the San Beda College Alabang Symphony Orchestra. After years of practice, I was given a solo performance in the Cultural Center of the Philippines accompanied by the SBCASO.
There came a point in my life where I lost my passion for music. Back then, I thought music was just a hobby, because I did not know what to do with it. However, my perspective changed when I entered the Conservatory of Music in UST, where I also joined the String Orchestra. We were given the right materials and a good foundation, for us to become skilled and intelligent musicians. After having a much deeper understanding about the course, my passion for music reignited and it became stronger than ever. I was given a chance to teach violin lessons to some students and that experience made me excited in my future career. Since then, I have been inspired to teach what I learned throughout my life. I want to share my knowledge and wisdom so students can achieve their goals without losing their passion. I am determined to teach and give them the proper musical foundation and guidance they deserve, so they would not get lost in their journey towards becoming professional musicians.
As Steve Jobs said, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
