Kalynda Pearce

I am a doctoral student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, in the Language, Literacy and Culture concentration.

My research area of interest is science literacy and ELL student identity.

I am also a huge fan of children's and young adult literature...well, all literature. Love!

Recently my research has taken me to using fictional stories as an access towards scientific interest, scientific investigation, and science literacy.

I bring to my research my 11 years of K-12 teaching, which was primarily teaching Sheltered Instruction Science to a population of 6th-8th graders.
