Kamala Moore
Victoria, Bc Canada
My name is Kamala Moore and my husband and I just recently moved to Victoria BC from the Kootenays, which also attracts many writers and artists. I have two daughters still living there and four grandchildren. We came for the gentle climate, like a lot of retired people and it was a pleasant surprise to find an active community of writers here.
In the past I have been a hairdresser, child care worker, and a counselor. Although I have an MA in Psychology, the literature courses I took where the most enjoyable, especially the poetry classes. I have always written poetry , although there have been some long dry spells. Now it’s great to have the time to devote to writing and reflecting.
I have an e book of poems and paintings called, Re-entering the Womb of the Goddess at Amazon.com , two free ebooks at smashwords.com and articles and poetry at Wikinuts.com under the pen name C.D. Moore.
Years ago I created a collage of how I saw my life unfolding from beginning to end. I remember I began in the center and at the outer edge I pasted a picture of a typewriter with disembodied hands in white gloves typing away in outer space and that was before the internet. And that’s where I feel I am sometimes when I write. Well, here I am in cyberspace. I guess I’ve come full circle.
I never thought I’d be doing this. Up until a couple of weeks ago I didn’t know what a blog was. I’m still figuring it out. I tried reading the description and the instructions, but that only got me more confused. I am a grandmother after all. I always say I’ve hit my technological limit and then something prompts me to go beyond it. So here I am in the cyberworld.
I’ve just jumped in and fumbled around till I got this far.
I Choose Rumi’s quotes for my blog theme because his poetry has surprised me with it’s beauty and wisdom over the years and I consider him to be a teacher of mine. I know many others feel the same way.
After a long period of reflection and a reality check I decided to offer my poems for free. Even if I could make a few dollars it would hardly be worth the work of promoting and marketing which are not skills that I have or enjoy. And so I will be sending my poems out into cyber space not knowing who may catch one; but comforted by the thought that the are some small part of the creative offering that is out there, and hoping they may become a moment of comfort or inspiration for someone. ( But please, if
