For 15 years Kamela Boyd has honed her skills as a public relations tactician and strategic thinker with an ability to work in a dynamic environment, across multiple stakeholder groups, to achieve a shared vision. She is able to quickly adapt to new environments, solve complex issues and counsel senior executives. Her communications experience spans higher education, non-profit organizations and governmental relations.

From 2005 to 2013, she was employed at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. While at MSM, she worked for the 16th U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. David Satcher, in the Satcher Health Leadership Institute. The institute, founded in 2006, has developed a stellar reputation for its community health leadership programs, mental health and health policy leadership programs. Her standout moments at SHLI were redesigning and increasing the readership of the institute’s primary print publication while serving as editor, designing social media curriculum that was integrated into the institute’s Community Health Leadership Program and producing a podcast with first year Master of Public Health students. The social media curriculum and podcast were the first ever at Morehouse School of Medicine.

Today, she is the principal at Langley Harper an Atlanta- based boutique public relations agency, that specializes in health communication and houses a growing speakers bureau of distinguished health care professionals, industry leaders and community stakeholders. Kamela is also part- time faculty in the Department of Arts and Humanities at Georgia Perimeter College.

Raised in Chicago and Tallahassee, Florida, Kamela considers effective communication an essential key to success. She earned a MS in Organizational and Corporate Communication from Northeastern University and a BA in Journalism with a concentration in public relations from Georgia State University and is a member of Public Relations Society of America, National Association of Black Journalists and the Black Public Relations Society of Atlanta.
