I was born in Jamaica Plain and grew up in Brookline, MA. I am Junior in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts. Throughout my studies, here at Umass and throughout my life, I have discovered my passion for figuring out how things work.

For that reason, I have a love for numbers and equations. I have never been one to simply memorize an equation; I have to know the why’s and how’s of what I am doing.

It was this need to know that drove me to excel in my math classes. I took the time and put in the effort to not just memorize the equations, forums and rules but to really know why they worked, how they were applied and under what circumstances. Had I not had the need and desire to figure out how it all worked, I would not have continued pursuing my interest in numbers and equations.

I am now a Finance major and am enjoying putting the same amount of effort and time into figuring out and really understanding what is the reasoning behind the different concepts and equations we learn.

This passion for figuring out how things work extends into my day-to-day life as well. Growing up, as all little kids do, I went through my “why?’ phase. No answer was ever enough. It was simply followed by another “why?” from me. I guess I never really out grew that phase. It is because of this I have made some important discoveries not only about myself but about the world and people around me.
