Kamil Becmer
Software Engineer in Warszawa, Polska
I was growing up with computers. My first one was ZX Spectrum and I loved coding on it. Next one was Amiga 600 and I played with assembler there for the first time. I really enjoyed to write game state editors for various games like Civilization. But my first bigger project was an UI engine written in AMOS. It's hard to say how old I was then, something between 10 and 15.
When I was around 15, I got my first PC and coded mostly in Delphi becoming kind of guru on one of the polish developer sites. I remember we were writing IM, and my role was to implement rich text renderer. Today you would just use HTML for that, but that was totally different times. There were some episodes with coding in C++ as well, but its toolchain always sucked.
Today I have around 15 years experience with Java along with some of JVM-based languages like Clojure, Groovy, and Kotlin. Used to be front-end developer and UX designer for couple of years. Spent years with Python as well. In love with Rust for last 5 years, a language I was waiting for so long.
Personally, the father amazed by his 1.5 yo girl.
