Kamira Jones

Forever an idealist at heart, I have a personal and professional commitment toward engaging, empowering, and connecting my neighbors within the Triangle to maximize community impact.

Shortly after graduating from Ohio University with Bachelors in Business Administration in 2000 and a Bachelor of Science in Communication in 1999, I left my Cincinnati roots and relocated to North Carolina to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America) on the Teaming for Technology project to help bridge the digital divide.

Currently, I am a 100% home-based IT Project Manager for a privately-owned healthcare company. Previously, I served as a Contract Administrator for John Deere and Battelle Memorial Institute. I also worked a short stint for the U.S. Army Research Office as a Procurement Technician administering their Intellectual Property database. Prior to that I served as the Senior Network Administrator at Triangle United Way where I was responsible for the network infrastructure, telephony services, Web site, and IT training.

I've had a lifelong thirst for education, attaining my MBA through the Executive MBA Program at UNC at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler School of Business.

Over the past 15 years, I have been a very active member in the Triangle community:

  • Webmaster of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – A Public Service Sorority
  • Former President of the RTP Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers Alumni Extension Chapter (NSBE)
  • Former President of RTP Chapter of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA)
  • Former Director of the Raleigh-Durham Chapter of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA)
  • Member of Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Circle of Sisters Book Club
