Kevin and Amy Moreno
Berrien Springs, MI
Kevin felt his calling to ministry after years of persuading by God though friends and family suggesting he would be a good pastor. One day he told God he would submit to this calling only if in one day two people who never talked to him about this before would recommend he become a pastor. God answered and soon after Kevin was on his way from California to Michigan to study theology at Andrews University. Kevin has a heart for family ministries, which has shown in my interpersonal skills in each of the ministries he has been a part of. In addition, he am bilingual with Spanish as his first language and have taken opportunities to speak in Spanish churches within the Chicago area.
Amy always wanted to be a missionary and serve God. While in India on a mission trip after her senior year in High School, she felt God persuading her that she can be a pastor and will be. She avoided this call for a few years, but God continually showed her that her heart is in ministry. Amy's areas of strength are in organizing and teaching as she enjoys a more personal setting of getting to know individuals. Educational settings are where she feels most comfortable and she has enjoyed the different facets of planning and teaching in areas such as Pathfinders, Sabbath School, and Vacation Bible School.
We met at Andrews studying in the Undergraduate Religion Department. Amy had just gotten back from being a student missionary to Cambodia, which caught Kevin's eye. On Mount Sinai Kevin proposed and we were married on August 5th, 2014.
Our goal is to eventually work together as a pastoral team in a district, but we are aware that there will be stepping stones along the way.
Kevin graduated with my BA in Theology this May 2014 from Andrews University. Amy is in her second year of the Masters of Divinity and will be graduating in December 2014.
