• Technical Manager of the Wi-Fi Inter-Operability Testing (IOT) and Certifications team, which is part of the core BlackBerry 10 software platform group. The team's mandate is the integration and testing of features based on the IEEE 802.11 set of protocols (WLAN or Wi-Fi), optimizing and enhancing the protocols for operations on a mobile platform, performing Inter-Operability Testing against other vendor equipment and obtaining Wi-Fi Certifications for all BlackBerry products.
• Everyday technical role includes: reviewing upcoming technical specifications and standards, working with product management to review customer technical requirements, working with software development teams on defining high-level feature designs based on requirements, creating test strategies, reviewing feature and IOT test plans and coordinating the feature verification and validation testing.
• Responsible for ensuring that BlackBerry products obtain and continue to conform to Wi-Fi Certifications such as 802.11n, WMM-PS, WPS, Wi-Fi Direct, Miracast, etc. Tasked with analyzing carrier requirements and performing Acceptance Testing mandated by major North American wireless carriers.
• Ability to understand and resolve complex radio frequency coexistence issues across different air-interface protocols. Able to apply engineering trade-offs to optimize device performance within the context and limitations of mobile device software and hardware architectures.
• Ongoing non-technical job function includes: all aspects of people management related to the team, defining short-term and long-term objectives for the team, developing project work-load estimates and delivery schedules, identifying and resolving risks and bottlenecks to deliverables, providing regular feedback and progress reports to senior management in the form of weekly updates.
