Kandace Grant

Writer, Public Speaker, and Teacher

Hi, I'm Kandace! I've always believed that words are powerful vehicles. Writing always provided a way for me to express myself and connect with others, even as a very shy young girl.

My professional writing and speaking career began after graduating with a degree in Journalism from the University of South Carolina. As an Author, Speaker, and Advocate, I seek to share stories and experiences that inspire, empower, & reignite Possibility in myself and in others.

My first book is BE WILLING! How to Live an Affirmative & Empowered Life---Right Now! It is a steady, reassuring hand in the dark for those feeling alone, powerless, or blindsided after crashing into the chaos of unexpected Change.

My second published work appears in the beautiful anthology entitled Mama Stories: Gifts from Our Mothers, a beautiful compilation of stories from 13 African American women about their unique relationships with their Mothers.

I am a proud wife and mother of three amazing young adults––-including our incredible youngest son Korey, who was diagnosed with autism, epilepsy, and kidney disease before gaining his wings in 2022 at the young age of 24.

To honor his joy-filled life and legacy, we co-founded Korey’s Campers, an annual memorial scholarship fund providing tuition at Camp Explore, a phenomenal all-inclusive summer camp program incorporating traditional camp activities, education, and pre-vocational opportunities for young adults ages 18 and older with intellectual and developmental delays. (Please find out more and consider donating by clicking this link: https://www.campsattp.org/koreys-campers.) I also continue to advocate for fellow caregivers and parents.

As a grateful kidney transplant recipient, I also seek to empower those caring for themselves as they live beyond a diagnosis. I am a Certified Kidney Educator for the National Kidney Foundation and an Ambassador for LifeShare of the Carolinas, educating others about organ transplantation.
