As care coordinator with the National Council of Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Kandi Derry Digiovanni performs in-person substance abuse and mental health evaluations. Kandi Derry Digiovanni ensures that gaps in clients’ needs are addressed, helping clients to attain self-sufficiency, psychiatric stability, and sobriety. In addition to managing treatment at appropriate care levels, she advocates on behalf of clients in areas such as housing and medical needs.
Ms. Digiovanni holds an undergraduate degree in athletic training from Kean University in New Jersey. Serving on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, she was a class representative with the Athletic Training Club during her junior and senior years.
From 2008 to 2012, she engaged as Kean University athletic trainer and performed pre-season physicals and other baseline testing while working with team physicians. As each sport's season progressed, she evaluated athletes' concussions and other injuries, and monitored players as they moved toward readiness to play again. She also applied injury preventive measures, which including taping joints and fitting braces.
Ms. Digiovanni completed an MA in counseling at Kean University and gained professional experience with Journey to Wellness as a counselor intern. Her responsibilities included leading individual and group sessions and performing intake assessments.
