Kununurra

The purpose of this blog is to share my experiences and learning's while on a working secondment in the East Kimberley.

I work for NAB and as part of their Reconciliation Action Plan, they provide a number of lucky employees (me!) with the opportunity to spend six weeks working in Indigenous organisations on social and economic development projects, assisting Aboriginal people in remote communities in the Kimberley, WA.

On August 19 2013, I commence the journey from Melbourne to Kununurra via Perth and spend 6 weeks in Kununurra working on a project driven by The Wunan Foundation.

I hope that this blog will illustrate life in the Kimberley and will accurately depict the struggles and challenges that Indigenous Australians face. I also hope to share with you the fantastic work that local organisations are doing and how programs like this, which is run by Jawun, can really benefit Indigenous communities.

As a disclaimer, please note that the views and opinions expressed in this blog are my own and I am not writing as an official representative of NAB.
