I'm passionate about learning, leading change & helping people identify their strengths and reach their goals. I bring energy and determination to all of my work drawing on analytical skills and emotional intelligence developed through working in social research, higher education & workplace learning.

I'm the former Head of Learning and Development at Samaritans. My previous roles include Head of Social Sciences at the Higher Education Academy (now AdvanceHE) and Director of Learning & Enterprise at NatCen Social Research.

I'm genuinely excited about building new networks and collaborations here in the UK and elsewhere so contact me if you have an idea for how we might work together. I know human connections are at the heart of collaboration and my own personal development so I keep active in my networks and on social media to make sure I continue to learn and grow.

My career began in qualitative social research and I've been committed to promoting quality in social science and research through knowledge exchange and capacity building throughout my career, including leadership of NatCen Learning from 2006-2015 and the founding of the thriving international network of researchers using social media for research (see @NSMNSS) in 2012.

I'm a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and a Fellow of the LPI and have worked across the academic, public and third sectors. I co-authored Corporate Earthquakes a digital hack, chosen as a finalist for the MIX Digital Freedom Challenge in 2014. Also in 2014 I published a crowd sourced book of blogs 'Social Media in Social Research' and in 2017 edited ‘The ethics of online research’ (Advances in Research Ethics and Integrity Vol. 2) for Emerald.
