KaprekaBooker, an alumna of LIU Brooklyn and former Assistant Director of Student Life& Leadership Development there, is currently a Career Counselor at GeorgiaPiedmont Technical College (GPTC). Her love for her alma mater student successled her to work in higher education at LIU Brooklyn in 2007 after almost a decadeof counseling in child protective services. She relocated to her howstate of Georgia in 2014 where she now assist GPTC students andcommunity members alike on their journey through life with achieving theircareer goals towards a better future!

Kapreka worked forfive years as a Child Protective Specialist with the Administration forChildren’s Services in Brooklyn investigating child abuse and neglect. It wasduring those years that she developed her skills in counseling and conflictresolution. In this position, she was recognized for her “ExceptionalContribution as a Dedicated Child Protective Specialist-Family Service UnitWorker” and for her “Outstanding and Efficient Performance as a ChildProtective Specialist Worker”. Kapreka returned to her home state of Georgia in2004 to work as a Social Service Supervisor with the Department of Family andChildren Services for three years.

As the AssistantDirector of Student Life & Leadership Development at LIU Brooklyn, she was responsiblefor the coordinating and advising student leaders and student organizations,including the Student Government and the student media. She also assisted inplanning and coordination of all extra-curricular & co-curricularactivities, participated in leadership training initiatives for students andassisted the Director in the day-to-day operations.

Over the past sevenyears, Kapreka developed comprehensive and innovative events to engage thediverse population at LIU Brooklyn. Her signature events included stress reliefand wellness, Relax Your Way to an ‘A’, service learning through AlternativeSpring Break Trips and the annual leadership training conferences.

Asa Career Counselor she continues to be resourceful and creative while planningcareer workshops, activities and fairs for the students of GPTC and itssurrounding community

Her philosophy instudent affairs includes teaching students, while having fun and earning theirdegree, to be accountable, socially engaged and selfless humanitarians beyondthe walls of academia.
