Kyle Rumney

My name is Kyle Rumney. I ran cross-country for four years at Mill Creek High School. During my time there, we had the most successful run in Mill Creek history. Coming in as the runner up one year and the state champion the year after that. I was first exposed to the cross-country team in middle school as the coach came to my gym class. My freshman year, I did not put forth the effort necessary in the summer to be successful, and I struggled to adjust to distance running. I learned from my mistakes the next year and trained hard the next summer, so I could be successful. Unfortunately, I was injured for most of the year, so I did not live up to my potential, but the team went to state, and came in second. My junior was by far my best year due to my tough training regimen over the summer, and my lack of injuries during the year. This was the first year I was able to letter, and the team’s most successful year as we won the state championship. My senior year started off poorly during the summer, as I had to deal with several nagging injuries which hurt my performance at the start of the year. Through pure determination, I managed to letter again, but the team suffered some major injuries on the varsity squad heading into state causing us to have a poor performance although we had the potential to win it again if not for the injuries.
