Kara Dodd is a student based in Boston Massachusetts studying Marketing Communications, Public Relations and Advertising, and Global/Post-Colonial Studies at Emerson College. May 2015, Kara will graduate Emerson College with a B.S. in Marketing Communications. She is seeking work in account management, higher education, and human resources at an exciting and dynamic organization. Along with continually being a proven academic, Kara is involved on campus as a Residence Assistant, a Student Ambassador, Orientation Leader and Marketing Director for Kidding Around, a theater for young audiences group. Kara's latest project is the production of The EVVYs Gala Event at Emerson.

Kara’s proudest and most proven role, was working as an Artist Liaison and Operations Assistant for the 2013 Outside the Box Boston Festival. The festival spanned 9 Days, showcased 170+ artistic organizations, and was free and open to the public. In her role, Kara managed day to day office activities, served as a liaison between festival staff and artistic talent, and planned a variety of community cultivation and fundraising events leading up for the festival.

Kara has worked as an intern at Havas Media in New Business and Strategy. There she gained experiences in Business to Business sales and communications. Additionally, in her professional experiences, Kara has also worked as a brand representative for Home Grown Marketing, a local company that represents national health food brands through product demonstrations and consumer interactions. In addition, Kara has worked as an administrative assistant for N.E.T.R. Inc., and also worked for Boston’s Citi Performing Arts Center as a Marketing and Social Media intern. Her experiences have provided strong skills in sales, communications, marketing, social media, project management, and administration.

In her spare time, Kara enjoys giving back to the community through volunteer work. She spent 4 years serving as the Committee Chair for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and helped raise over $300,000 through her involvement. Today, Kara is involved in a variety of community projects and service projects on campus and in the greater community.

Kara also enjoys running, cooking, crafting, theater and live performance and entertaining friends and family.
