Kara Fitzpatrick

My name is Kara Fitzpatrick. I am currently a junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, majoring in hospitality and tourism management.

Part of the reason why I chose this major is because I have a lot of compassion for people. I have had experience hostessing, and working the front desk at a local business, but my true passion lies in the hotel industry. With the extremely busy lives that everyone leads these days, I stirve to make a stay at a hotel as seemless as possible. I have always been a people person and thrived off of interactions with others. Being able to travel and meet people from all walks of life is an exciting part of the hospitality industry that not all other industries offer. My main goal for this summer is to begin an internship or a job at a hotel in Boston. There are many excellent establishments there that offer almost unlimited opportunities for advancement. It has always been important to me to make others happy, and going above and beyond while serving them during their stay in a hotel is a great way to do so.

It is not only people that I have compassion for however. Another passion of mine is animals. In the past, I have volunteered at an animal shelter during my spare time. Although at times, it can be difficult not to take every animal home with me, it is far more rewarding to be able to volunteer my time to do work that I love for dogs and cats that are unable to help themselves.

I look forward to a busy career in the hospitality industry, which will satisfy my goals as well as help me aid in others reaching theirs.
