Karan Panjwani
Student in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
I am Karan Panjwani, a third year student at the University of Toronto Mississauga, majoring in Communication, Culture, Information Technology(CCIT) and minoring in diaspora and Canadian studies.
In my spare time, I am a hoop addict, with an uncanny ability to remember statistics, trivia and other details that would escape most basketball enthusiasts. When I am not watching my home team (Go Raptors!) trounce its opponents, I can be annoyingly loud with my laughter as I watch movies with a comedic flare. I also love music.
I received a diagnosis of learning disability in middle school. You would think this would make matters easy as I now finally knew what was wrong with me, but I struggled to accept the diagnosis. As a matter of fact, I still do. This however does not define who I am. Through hard work and a lot of pep talk from my parents, I make this work. It is not easy. It is not fun. It is most certainly not going to get any less difficult. Here I am taking one step at a time and learning to deal with the cards that I have been dealt with.
One of the key things I hope you will take away from my story is that no matter what happens in life, the idea is to keep pushing yourself and have a positive attitude.
Check out some photographs I took with my Nikon D3100. The images can be found in my portfolio page. To be honest, photography turned out to be an interesting venture, one that I hope to continue pursuing.
