The Great Fogotten
Follow up on the Fringe--Wow--an indelible whirlwind! We were sold out every show at the Fringe and caught the attention of director Stephan Singer, renowned actor and director of the Barrow Group in NYC. A staged reading, last night at Alchemical Theatre in Manhattan was an enormous success with producers and industry people that are interested in a full scale production.
The Great Forgotten will be a piece of theatre you don't want to miss--the script and the story portray both the ravages of war (WWI) and the voyage of women fighting for their own freedoms here in the states. Celia and Elizabeth, the main character, are two sisters who signed up to be nurses serving the men in the trenches. When they return to New York, the Roaring Twenties is in full swing. The play flip flops between war scenes with the nurses and soldiers and a Speak Easy, The Jewel, where the sisters now dance.
Born into an Irish/Itlaian family, stories were an integral part of life. The bedtine tales my father told us fueled my love of children's literature; his appetite for knowledge inspired me to be a renaisance woman. I am a registered nurse with a B.F.A in Theatre and a M.F.A. in Creative Writing. Why mention the degress? Because I had to claw my way through college juggling family, work, and studies--so it means something to me! I have two novels out, Artista by the Sea and With Crow; The Tale of Two Sisters and another I am currently working on Between the Vines. In addition, I have many children's stories and a collection of short stories ready to fly. I teach and study African Style dance, perform in live Theatre and hope to produce my first play by the end of 2014.
