Mississippi
I am a family loving, outdoor enjoying, and good food eating, rural Mississippi farm girl. My roots run deep here and I am thankful to the amazing women in my family for imparting their love of good food. Growing up on a farm I learned a great deal about food and the many roles it plays in our lives. It is an important building block of our lives. Without good food we get sick... without food we would die … People have a right to have good food but not everyone has access to adequate food. This must change. I want to be a part of that change.
I am enthusiastic about food and everything that has to do with food. I love to cook for a crowd or for one. I love to talk about food and help others find a path to good nutrition. Good food brings about good health and that is important to me. Most of us start off with good health but many do not. Some must find a path back to good health. Although my journey began long ago this portion began seven years ago when joined a group looking to find my way back from poor health. I found my health and my courage to dream big. I lost well over a hundred pounds but I gained so much more.
I redirected my love of food and enrolled in a local community college with the hopes of helping others regain their health. Since then I have discovered that nutrition is so much more than food. It encompasses a wealth of avenues such as the National School Lunch Program, public policy, community nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and of course nutrition education. Upon beginning the undergraduate program at The University of Southern Mississippi my heart was set on helping people loose big and win bigger. My dreams haven’t change much, they have only gotten bigger…
