Karen Bruns
Cape Town
A lawyer by training, I've worked in marketing and project management roles in publishing and academia for most of my career. From 2001 to 2010, I developed new avenues for academic publishing on the African continent for the Human Sciences Research Council, South Africa, utilising open access principles. Since 2010, I've focussed on issues of research funding, research generation, partnership and research collaboration, within a strong network of African universities, research institutes, and think tanks.
