Karen Anderson Lain
Karen is Director of Academic Services at Academic Partnerships.
Prior to joining AP, Karen was an Assistant Professor and Coordinator for Program Assessment in the Communication Studies Department at the University of North Texas (UNT). While at UNT, Karen was awarded $26,000 in grants and fellowships for her work in online and blended learning. Karen has published two peer-reviewed journal articles and a digital textbook as well as presented thirty peer-reviewed conference presentations on pedagogy and communication.
Karen is an award winning instructor with five teaching awards including the Pioneer Award for innovation in online learning from the Center for Distributed Learning at UNT. Karen's 15 years of teaching experience in higher education includes face-to-face, online, and blended learning environments.
Karen was elected to Faculty Senate and to Chair the Departmental Executive Committee. Additionally, Karen served on the University wide committees including: University Curriculum, Transformative Instruction Initiative, Faculty Collaborative, and Quality Enhancement Plan Assessment (assessment plan for SACS accreditation).
Karen received her Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas; Master's degree in Communication Studies from Texas Tech University and Bachelor's degree in Communication and English Literature from Washburn University.
