Karen A Brooks

Karen Brooks grew up in Florida where she spent her days swimming, surfing and fishing, while her father served in the U.S. Navy.

Karen met her husband Kirby Brooks in 1976 in Florida. In 1984 the couple began a new business career together in the wholesale automotive replacement parts business, opening The Connection a Telemarketing Company, a Florida-based business. In 1986 they purchased Motor Power Industries, also an automotive replacement parts distribution company, based in Baltimore, Maryland.

As one of the top performing salespersons of The Connection, Karen quickly learned nationwide sales and customer relations practices. The Connection was prosperous and Karen left with a strong foundation for future business successes.

On several vacations between 1980 and 1999, the Brooks’ became enamored with the unique mountain areas and relaxed lifestyle of Hinsdale County, Ouray County and the Western Slope of Colorado. In 2000, they purchased a residence in the Ridgway golf community of Fairway Pines Subdivision, near Loghill Village, on Loghill Mesa, now known as Divide Ranch and Club. For the next several years the Brooks’ split their time between their residence in Florida and their Colorado home.

In 2002, Karen obtained her Colorado Real Estate Broker’s License. In 2005 the Brooks’ made Ridgway their full-time home and in September, Karen founded San Juan Realty Inc., as the Employing Broker. She quickly developed a reputation for possessing high standards in professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic.
