Karen Craggs-Milne
I am a Gender Equality advocate with a rare combination of passion, vision, leadership and technical skill. Got a challenge? Bring it on!
I am well known for:
- raising the bar and advancing the dialogue on gender equality
- inspiring others through stories' while 'telling it like it is
- translating concepts and theory into practical application
- connecting the dots (linking the personal and professional; the canadian and international; the organizational and programming)
- helping organizations 'walk the talk' and produce measurable results
Unlike many gender specialists, I chose to spread out and learn how to address gender issues in many different sectors, regions / contexts and to develop a wide range of gender related skills sets. The result: Over the last 12 years I have worked on gender equality with communities, educational and research institutions, small and international NGOs, private sector and government both in Canada and in many other countries.
I have also worked on gender issues in the following sectors: aboriginal affairs, agriculture, armed conflict, basic and TVET education, commercial sexual exploitation, emergencies and food assistance, health systems strengthening, immigration, maternal child health, law, microfinance, manufacturing, nursing, and natural resource management.
As a Thought Leader in this field I continue to challenge what we think we know about gender equality and development in Canada and overseas.
My message is simple: Good intentions are not enough. So, what else do we need? Let's get in touch and I'll be happy to discuss it with you!
