Karen Fenchel
A respected family law attorney based in Walnut Creek, California, Karen Fenchel established her law practice in 1998. Karen Fenchel graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in History and a teaching credential. Furthering her education, Fenchel earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from San Francisco State University and later graduated from the University of California Hastings College of the Law with a Juris Doctor.
A certified family law specialist, Karen Fenchel helps clients to decide matters and avoid going to court. With a focus on collaborative practice and family law mediation, Fenchel aims to achieve settlements. Karen Fenchel has also successfully litigated a number of family law cases for clients. Since she was admitted to the Bar in 1983, Karen Fenchel has solely practiced family law. In addition, Fenchel has taught elementary school and special education. Fenchel belongs to the Contra Costa County Bar Association, which includes the Women’s Section and Family Law Section, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. For the past six years, Karen Fenchel has served on a standing committee of the State Bar focusing on fiscal matters and potential legislation.
In addition, Karen Fenchel maintains membership with the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, a group committed to resolving family conflicts. Karen Fenchel also has addressed legal secretaries in Contra Costa County on divorce and spoken on tax matters. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and cooking.
