Karen Roxas
Financial Professional and Community Organizer in Los Angeles, California
Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, moved to the US when I was 13 years old, attended UCLA in 2011, and graduated 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
I am passionate towards woking on community development, public education, economic advancement of underserved communities, immigration and workers rights, and public health. My experiences in UCLA as a first generation immigrant student working for educational equity and economic advancement of underserved communities has driven me to learn more and work towards the betterment of these issues. I am seeking to further develop myself to learn more about my passions and to work for the advancement of the community.
I am also highly interested in learning more about communications and marketing because I believe that these are vital vehicles of any cause in order to raise awareness. I believe in the intersectionality of marketing and social justice, and how its impact can advance the causes of many communities.
In my spare time, I like going on travel and food adventures, reading both fiction and nonfiction books, taking pictures of precious sights and moments, playing sports and listening to music, and keeping up with technology and social media. In the future, I wish to travel around the world and learn about the beautiful history of many other cultures.
